A seven-year-old girl is missing and believed to be in danger after her mother allegedly abducted her in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After Ahmad was taken into custody, she reportedly told investigators during interviews that she had become upset "because of the way they were reading and looking at her", according to a police report. She formally lived in Tennessee and Texas.

"The story that we received was that the 7-year-old helped the 9-year-old escape the residence", a Tulsa police spokesperson told reporters. They did not say what the girls may have been reading at the time. A 9-year-old sibling managed to escape and run to a neighbor's house. When police arrived at the home, they found the kitchen had been set on fire.
