Surgeon General Helps Save Person Mid-Flight

Dr. Jerome Adams said he was on a Delta flight from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Wednesday when one of the passengers needed medical help.

Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, an anesthesiologist, says he provided medical attention to a passenger on Wednesday while his plane was preparing to take off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Jackson, Mississippi. "Again, I was just very honored to be able to be part of a team that included two nurses to help respond and potentially save this person's life".

Adams, who was traveling to MS for public events, tweeted about the situation. "Medical assistance was provided by the U.S. Surgeon General who worked with our flight crew to aid the customer", Delta confirmed in a statement.

The patient woke up, and Adams determined it was best for the plane to return to the gate and for the patient to go to a hospital for further evaluation.
