You Will Live Longer If You Sleep More on Saturdays and Sundays

Inadequate sleep has always been proven as a trigger and cause for mental and physical illnesses and even leading to an early death.

Scientists in the Journal of Sleep Research conducted a study on the sleep patterns of adults.

Regardless, the next time you feel bad about sleeping in more than normal, just think of it as an investment in your long-term health.

International Monetary Fund to work with Iran banking chief despite U.S. bans
The deal's proponents say it is crucial to forestalling a nuclear Iran and preventing wider war in the Middle East. In exchange, Tehran was granted widespread relief from worldwide trade, oil and banking sanctions.

According to new research, getting extra sleep on the weekend can undo the damage of failing to get enough during the week, ultimately helping you live longer.

Following on from last year's claims that enjoying a weekend lie-in can make us cleverer and have a positive impact on our waistline, there's now even more reason to stay in bed this Saturday. It found that people who regularly slept about five hours or less a night, including on weekends, saw a higher mortality rate - the likelihood of death during the study period - compared with those who regularly got seven hours.

Meaning sleeping in on weekends appears to restore your body.

Israel reportedly just launched missile attack near Homs in Syria
The US and Israel view Iran's extensive military presence in Syria as a threat to Israel and have threatened action. Daraa's location on the border of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights makes any operation there highly sensitive.

But the data does not show that short or long sleep is somehow responsible for higher mortality, lead author Torbjorn Akerstedt told the Washington Post.

But when the short sleepers slept in on the weekends, their mortality rate did not differ from that of the consistent seven-hour-a-night sleepers. However, those of the same age group who slept for a short amount of time during the week and a longer amount of time over the weekend were recorded as having the same mortality rate as those who consistently hit the hay for six or seven hours a night.

The study considered factors such as sex, weight, physical activity, smoking, stress at work.
