New video game called "Active Shooter"

New video game called

A number of people have criticized the game ahead of its June 6 release date via the Steam digital platform.

This does call into question whether or not Active Shooter went through any review process during its induction onto Steam Direct, which seems to allow any title to be published provided the $100-fee is paid up front. "Depending on the role, your objective might be to protect and extract or hunt and destroy", a description of the game adds.

Ryan Petty, whose daughter Alaina died in the Parkland shooting, released a statement via Facebook asking people to petition Valve, the company that runs Steam, to remove the game from its service.

"I don't understand why a company would profit off a game that glamorizes or glorifies what has become a national tragedy, these school shootings", Petty said.

A spokeswoman for Infer Trust, a London public health and safety issues awareness nonprofit, said the game was in "very bad taste", the BBC News noted.

While America has averaged one school shooting per week this year, a new video game is facing backlash on Monday for its lack of sensitivity.

The website touted, among other things, its "realistic first person controller", "impressive" artificial intelligence, and "real life situations" in the game.

Active Shooter is due out for a June 6 release. "There have been 22 school shootings in the US since the beginning of this year", a spokesperson said. It is horrendous. Why would anybody think it's a good idea to market something violent like that, and be completely insensitive to the deaths of so many children?

"I'm appalled this is coming out at this time considering the wave of crime that we're dealing with in schools, dealing with a lot of school shootings, shootings in cities and all", said Betty Rivers, another local mom.

First of all, this game does not promote any sort of violence, especially any soft [sic] of a mass shooting.

Steam is developed by the Bellevue, Wash. - based company Valve. "Then I thought about adding more gameplay to it by adding additional roles: of the shooter and the civilian".

But after hearing all of the outrage, Acid still tried to defend the game, deflecting to other historically tacky games, writing "As I mentioned on steam discussion forums, there are games like Hatred, Postal, Carmageddon and etc., which are even worst compared to "Active Shooter" and literally focuses on mass shootings/killings of people".

In fact, the Cavaliers became the first team to win a road Game 7 in the Eastern Conference finals since the 2006 Pistons. The Warriors might be the favorites - after all, it'll be four All-Stars against one on Monday - but Game 7 is no gimme.

The post continued, "I have wrote to Valve regarding this game and waiting for the reply. Active Shooter is essentially a dynamic SWAT simulator in which dynamic roles are offered to players".
