Apple reveals new iOS 12 privacy features

Apple's chief executive Tim Cook had previously described Facebook's practices as being an "invasion of privacy" - an opinion Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg had denounced as being "glib".

In January, Jana Partners and the California State Teachers' Retirement System or CalSTRS wrote a letter to Apple about growing "societal unease" about overuse of technology and in particular smart phones, which at some point could turn people away from buying Apple products. As pointed out by The Wall Street Journal for instance, new privacy tools in Safari will limit the personal data that apps like Facebook can collect.

"Do you want to allow "facebook.com" to use cookies and website data while browsing [this site]?" Onstage, Apple's VP of software Craig Federighi described Safari's new anti-tracking features in unusually confrontational terms. When people visit sites, the characteristics of their device can be used by advertisers to create a "fingerprint" to track them.

Enhanced privacy was part of a slew of improvements touted by Apple to developers, whose creations are key to the popularity of iPhones, iPads and Mac computers.

Rain on way to help douse wildfires in New Mexico, Colorado
Lightning in these storms can start fires that just smolder and are hard to detect until it dries out enough for them to kick up. Fire 416 in Colorado grew to 2,255 acres and was 10 percent contained on Sunday, the Rocky Mountain Blue Team said.

Facebook also insisted firms like Apple did not abuse the access to information. The new Screen Time function in iOS 12 monitors how much time users spend with each app, how many times they pick up their phones, and which notifications catch their attention.

The feature, "Screen Time", is account-based and works across all of a child's iOS devices.

"These partners signed agreements that prevented people's Facebook information from being used for any other objective than to recreate Facebook-like experiences", Ime Archibong, Facebook's vice president of product partnerships, said in the post.

"This is beyond remarkable", Cook said, noting that the online App Store will be 10 years old in July.

According to the Telegraph , lake and riverside baptisms are common in many African countries, the risks notwithstanding. It is likely that the crocodile that killed Docho was a Nile crocodile, the Independent reported .

Calling privacy a "fundamental human right", Tim Cook has been a big advocate at the same.

SYDELL: You know, Apple makes hardware. Some analysts remained unimpressed, saying Apple is lagging rivals in key areas like artificial intelligence as the smartphone market matures.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Apple CEO said: "The things mentioned in the Times article about relationship statuses and all these kinds of stuff, this is so foreign to us, and not data that we have ever received at all or requested", he said.

"If Apple has major improvements to Siri in its labs, it did not show them off today".
