Trump Says He May Pardon Late Boxing Champion Muhammad Ali

President Donald Trump is considering a posthumous pardon for boxing great Muhammad Ali, The Associated Press reported Friday morning.

Mr Trump's comments follow his pardon of conservative political commentator and author Dinesh D'Souza.

He said he has a list of 3,000 potential names who are being considered for clemency.

The paper added that Kurz is set to discuss the issue with the U.S. ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, in Berlin next week. He also cited Soviet successes in the space race while pledging to launch 600 new satellites and develop a super-heavy rocket.

"We appreciate President Trump's sentiment, but a pardon is unnecessary", the statement said. In an 8-0 decision, the court overturned Ali's conviction.

In April, he issued a full pardon in April to I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney who was convicted of lying to investigators and obstruction of justice following the 2003 leak of the covert identity of Central Intelligence Agency officer Valerie Plame. He added, "The pardons are a very positive things for a president".
