Witness saw gator drag woman into Florida lake

The caller reported seeing the alligator drag her into the pond in Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park in Davie, Florida.

Davie police responded to the scene after a witness reported seeing the woman attacked by an alligator and dragged into the lake off of Southwest 52nd Street. "One of her dogs got bit by the gator", Davie Police Maj. Dale Engle told the Sun Sentinel on Friday when the search began.

She was out walking her dogs, one of which was found by the side of the water with a large, fresh wound on its coat when authorities arrived. The dogs didn't want to leave the lake and are now being cared for by Broward County Animal Care, WSVN said.

Some residents said they had lost pets that wandered too close to the lake. "Human remains" were retrieved from the animal, according to a Friday report from the Miami Herald, who cited authorities. The commission is aware of 401 people bitten between 1948 and 2017, including 27 killed, the report said.

The incident brought back memories of the 2016 Trooping the Colour when William, 36, was scolded by Queen Elizabeth to stand up. Royal fans rarely witness the Cambridge family in this kind of setting - more regularly seeing them at official royal events.

Neighbours told local media that they have seen children swimming in the lakes.

Two days before a South Florida woman was fatally attacked by an alligator, an emailed warning about a trespassing gator was sent out to homeowners in the waterfront community where she lived.

Davie's assistant director of parks, Jeff Polhman said trappers had been hired in the past 18 to 24 months to capture the alligator, without success.

The park, which is surrounded by homes and is popular for picnics and dog-walking, was closed following the incident.

But Twitter , unlike Scaramucci, glommed on to her line and hung on for hours to the trending topic. US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are due to meet on Tuesday.

The last deadly gator attack in South Florida happened 12 years ago when a 28-year-old woman was attacked while jogging along a path in Sunrise. I'm out here all the time with my kids and my husband. Despite putting up quite the resistance against the trapper and inexperienced officers, the 8-foot alligator was eventually blindfolded, bound and muzzled.

Trina Gonzalez, who lives in Davie, told the Sun Sentinel that the area is risky.

Though alligator encounters are fairly common in Florida, the state averages only "about five unprovoked bites per year", the wildlife commission said.
