Food Twitter Roasts Trump and Kim Jong-un Over Summit Lunch

President Trump's historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday in Singapore could be good news for a border city between China and North Korea.

While President Trump might be correct that his threat to rain "fire and fury" on the Korean Peninsula helped get Kim to the table (and perhaps persuaded Xi to cajole him there), the opportunity to convert that leverage into real denuclearization has been squandered.

On nuclear weapons, Mr Kim "reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula".

Despite Trump's claim to have achieved something that eluded his predecessors, previous us administrations extracted more specific commitments from Pyongyang, only to see them breached.

"The document is short on details, "Schumer said".

United Nations Assembly blames Israel for Gaza violence, but not Hamas
It "deplores the firing of rockets from the Gaza Strip against Israeli civilian areas", but doesn't say who is doing the firing. US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley speaks in favor of an amendment condemning Hamas during a General Assembly debate.

Bloomberg reported that Trump's departure time was moved up in response to Kim's plans to leave Singapore shortly after the summit.

He made it to China but was caught and returned to a North Korean labour camp, where he said torture was among the "very serious human rights violations", which he witnessed, and which he says still continue to this day.

"Their story is well-known", the narrator says while images of Trump and Kim appear on screen.

Tuesday marked the first time a sitting U.S. President and a member of the Kim dynasty met face to face.

However, the New Yorker noted that the brief agreement didn't meet standards previously sought by the USA, in that North Korea's end of the bargain did not include that their denuclearization would be verifiable or irreversible.

NCAA eases rules on athlete transfers
Not surprisingly, Oklahoma will get just one season's worth of Kyler Murray as their (projected) starting quarterback. The transfer rule will generate the most buzz, though.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, which had called for Trump and Kim to address the issue of the missing prior to the summit, hailed the agreement.

Trump said the video was meant to illustrate the bright future that might be ahead, if Kim agrees to denuclearize.

Asked if he had a message for the North Korean people, Trump said, "I think you have somebody that has a great feeling for them". The narrator references some of Trump's main arguments to Kim, namely that eliminating his nuclear stockpile would allow his country to benefit economically and re-enter the world community.

"What North Korea has gained, however, is tangible and lasting".

"We in Australia, the Australian government is now assessing what we could offer in terms of expertise to assist in that verification process", Ms Bishop said. North Korean and United States journalists argued and elbowed one another for almost 20 minutes jostling for position to capture the moment when Trump and Kim entered the room. Mr Trump said he wanted to see USA troops withdraw from the South.

Kim nuclear summit praised, but big questions loom
Max Thunder's air combat exercises so unnerved North Korea that it issued threatening statements that almost scuttled the summit. He added that while Trump is "in the lead", "I will be the person driving this process forward".
