Kim, Trump Hold Historic Summit with Many Breakthroughs

US President Donald Trump met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in a historic summit amid intense media glare in Singapore on Tuesday.

After their almost five-hour summit at Singapore's Sentosa island resort, Trump and Kim sealed a deal that saw the United States president pledge "security guarantees" to Pyongyang, while the isolated regime's young leader "reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula".

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has apparently taken a calculated risk to hold summit meets first with South Korea and then with the United States leaders.

The two leaders concluded their summit by signing a document in which Trump pledged "security guarantees" to the North and Kim reiterated his commitment to "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".

Trump said at a news conference on Tuesday after meeting face to face with Kim that "real change is indeed possible".

It futher sees the U.S. and North Korea agree to "establish new relations", and 'join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula'.

The signing ceremony and Trump's news conference capped a four-hour summit in Singapore aimed at easing decades of tensions between adversaries that only previous year seemed on the brink of nuclear war.

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown deleted her Twitter account this week in response to being turned into an anti-gay meme. The reality of the situation is that the actress is not only an LGBTQ rights supporter but also an anti-bullying advocate.

The two countries remain technically at war after the 1950-53 Korean War ended in an armistice instead of a peace treaty.

This contrasted with Kim, who had comparatively less to lose, having already scored a major win through Trump's agreement to meet him.

The meeting, a key event for world markets, came just months after they traded insults and tensions spiralled in the region over North Korea's nuclear and missile programmes as it raced toward the goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the United States.

"There is no limit to what North Korea can achieve when it gives up its weapons and embraces commerce", he said.

'Trading our defence of South Korea for a promise is a lopsided deal that past presidents could have made but passed on, ' he said. "We're going to take care of a very big and very unsafe problem for the world".

Even with Kim's promise to eliminate his nuclear arsenal, Trump said the USA will maintain economic sanctions on Pyongyang until North Korea's nuclear program is "no longer a problem".

"Many people in the world will think of this as a. form of fantasy. from a science-fiction movie", Kim said, according to a translator.

What's more, the left-handed batsman became the first Indian to score a ton in the first session on day one of a Test. Dhawan was soon caught in the slips off seamer Yamin Ahmadzai, who picked up Afghanistan's first Test wicket.

Trump also confirmed he would invite the North's leader to the White House. In agreeing to the summit, Trump risked granting Kim his long-sought recognition on the world stage in hopes of ending the North's nuclear program. "There were obstacles, but we overcame them to be here". Trump said: "That's true".

Trump held a news conference in Singapore before returning home.

"Trump is a gambler and he's gambling on being able to rein in North Korea like a parent does to naughty child", Leong said.

The Royal Plaza on Scotts hotel, jumping onto the Trump-Kim summit bandwagon, gave away 250 special Trump-Kim burgers. Few would deny that today's meeting is a historic occasion but some commentators are questioning how different today's agreement is from commitments made by the North Korean leader earlier in the year and lament that today's statements don't include a concrete and immediate commitment to denuclearize.

"I think both sides are going to be impressed with the result", Trump told reporters. When asked to elaborate, he said: "I learnt he's a very talented man".

As Trump acknowledged that denuclearization would not be accomplished overnight, the North suggested Wednesday that Trump had moved away from his demand for complete denuclearization before USA sanctions on the long-isolated country are removed.

Trump Says Meeting Kim Has Helped World Avert "Nuclear Catastrophe"
A spokeswoman for United States military forces in Korea said it had not received any direction to cease joint military drills. Trump said the movie was shown to Kim and his aides on an iPad and "a cassette". "Did you get anything in return?" he asked.
