Instagram Announces IGTV App for Watching Long-Form, Vertical Video

"It is a new app for watching long-form, vertical video from your favourite Instagram creators, like LaurDIY posting her newest project or King Bach sharing his latest comedy skit". Instagram has just launched what it calls IGTV which is basically a mobile app that permits users to shoot videos on their mobiles and share it with friends and the videos can be of up to 1-hour duration. IGTV is different in a few ways. This comes as Instagram's global community hits the one billion mark. We made it simple, too. Through the new app, you'll be able to watch videos from people you follow and creators Instagram thinks you'll be interested in. The IGTV app will play content immediately upon opening it and there will be separate sections for the people you follow as well as what's popular at the moment.

During its event this afternoon, Instagram brought on stage content creator Lele Pons, who now has more than 25.1 million followers on the platform, to talk about a new cooking show she's planning for IGTV. Obviously, the addition of long format videos to Instagram is a way to try to get a share of the YouTube viewers and creators. Creators take their followers from Instagram to their new IGTV channels.

IGTV is available on the App Store as a free download. The app will be available or both iOS and Android within the next day or so while the Instagram app proper will receive its IGTV tab before the apps launch. He said that the entire community can use IGTV from the very start and hoped that it will bring people and things that matter even more closer.

"On Instagram, people are watching 60 percent more video than they did just past year", said Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom at the event.

IGTV won't be an app exclusive to the verified accounts or big accounts.

Instagram previously capped video posts at 60 seconds.

Finally, Kane showcased on the worldwide stage the predatory instinct in front of goal that has served Tottenham so well. You can not trust us to recover from a bad result in the opening game. "Togetherness and believing in ourselves".

Business-wise, the move makes flawless sense. With this announcement, it appears Instagram is aimed at staying in the social territory, where individual creators and brands can build interactive connections with their fans. To celebrate, the Facebook-owned photo site is launching a true video platform that goes beyond the short throwaway videos the service now offers.

Like YouTube, IGTV will focus its spotlight on its brightest stars allowing you to uncover new channels and personas that appeal to your specific interests. With the launch of IGTV, the company essentially wants to make its platform the go-to for entertainment - Instagram already has a huge amount of content for users, ranging from Stories, Live videos, to the classic photos and videos.
