Pulitzer-prize winning columnist Charles Krauthammer dies at 68

Krauthammer was most recently known for nightly appearances as a panelist on Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Bair" and as a commentator on various Fox shows.

In addition to his syndicated weekly column in The Washington Post, which garnered him a Pulitzer in 1987, he was a marquee essayist for magazines across the political spectrum, including Time, the New Republic, the Weekly Standard and the National Interest foreign policy journal.

Mr. Krauthammer had said earlier this month that he was battling an aggressive form of cancer and his doctors told him he had weeks to live. This is the final verdict.

Having undergone surgery last August to remove a cancerous tumor in his abdomen, that operation "caused a cascade of secondary complications - which I have been fighting in hospital ever since", he shared. "I leave this life with no regrets", he added.

By any measure, Krauthammer cut a singular profile in Washington's journalistic and policymaking circles. "I am sad to leave, but I leave with the knowledge that I lived the life that I intended", he said in conclusion.

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said Krathammer will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Robyn, and their adult son, Daniel.
