Nets Trade Jeremy Lin to the Hawks

The Brooklyn Nets have been active in the trade market this season and trading away point guard Jeremy Lin was one of their plans from the start of the summer, according to Anthony Puccio of Nets Daily.

The Nets will acquire Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur, a protected 2019 first round pick and a future second round pick from the Denver Nuggets.

Once again, Jeremy Lin is headed to a new city.

The Nets made the move early Friday morning to ease their logjam at point guard.

Lin became the first player in National Basketball Association history with at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first five starts before undergoing left knee surgery in March to end his season. Faried is owed $13.76 million this season, and Arthur is set to earn $7.46 million.

Last October, Lin ruptured a right knee tendon in the season opener and missing the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign. Both are entering the final years of their contract.

During a partially healthy season in Brooklyn during the 2016-17 season, Lin averaged 14.5 points and 5.1 assists over 36 games.

The Nets had acquired Whitehead in a draft night trade with Utah in 2016. In 406 career games with the Nets, Hornets, Lakers, Rockets, Knicks and Warriors, the eight-year veteran has registered averages of 12.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 26.6 minutes per contest.
