There's only one Blockbuster store left in the United States

Now that the two locations in Alaska are retiring, that leaves only one store left. The former media empire's last two Alaska locations in Anchorange and Fairbanks will officially close for rental business this coming Monday, according to the owner of both locations. The stores will reopen at noon on July 17, staying open through August for inventory sales. "We have thought of you as family for the past 28 years".

"Alaska had always been - I always thought they'd outlast us", she said.

The two remaining stores are located in Fairbanks on College Road and Anchorage on Debarr Road. But Alaska's extreme winters and expensive, often unreliable internet connections helped keep the doors open at some of the state's Blockbusters.
