Russian Federation agrees to help with North Korea relationship, Trump says ZlotoNews

In one of the only times of his presidency he's admitted to a mistake, Trump said that when he returned Monday from the summit with Putin in Helsinki, Finland, he "realized there is some need for clarification" about his remarks on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

"We got along well which truly bothered many haters who wanted to see a boxing match", Trump said. "Big results will come!" he wrote on Twitter.

He tweeted Wednesday: 'Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russian Federation.

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks about his summit meeting in Finland with Russia's President Vladimir Putin at the start of a meeting with members of the U.S. Congress at the White House in Washington, July 17, 2018.

He then veered from his script to hedge on who was responsible for the election interference: "It could be other people also". He has since walked back his remarks, but initially he seemed eager to accept Putin's denial of Russian interference in the 2016 American election over the United States intelligence conclusion.

Then, on Wednesday, Trump was asked during a Cabinet meeting if Russian Federation was still targeting the US, and he answered "no" without elaborating.

The admission came in the White House Cabinet Room, where Trump was sitting with lawmakers for an otherwise unrelated meeting.

"The sentence should have been, 'I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia.' Sort of a double negative", he added - repeating the laborious clarification several times.

Trump's statements at Helsinki were embarrassing, and dare I say it treasonous!

Trump wrote that a July 11-12 North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels was "an acknowledged triumph", repeating a disputed claim that member countries agreed to increase defense spending more quickly than they had planned.

She'll then make her way to other countries like Japan and Australia later this year. But the harness got stuck, and she just had to stay in mid-air for a while.

A post-summit news conference in Helsinki with Trump and Putin was "everything the Kremlin realistically could have hoped for", said Mark Galeotti, a Russian Federation scholar at the Institute of International Relations Prague.

The scale of the bipartisan outcry at Trump's stance toward Putin has only been rivaled by his 2017 waffling over condemning white supremacist demonstrators in Charlottesville, Virginia. I'm ashamed of it.

Moments earlier, McConnell felt the need to reassure America's allies in Europe with whom Trump clashed during his frenzied trip last week. "Can you imagine if President Kennedy believed Khrushchev when he said there were no missiles in Cuba?"

Not all Republicans were angry with Trump's conduct in Helsinki. "We thought yesterday was the craziest day of this ridiculous presidency".

The US President also mentioned that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign was "a disaster for our country", while also saying that it had negatively impacted US-Russia relations.

"Words are not enough".

"Just standing and selling your country downriver on foreign soil in front of your adversary - there's no precedent for such disgraceful and irrational behavior", Brinkley said.

"I think there's a lot we can do together", the Senate's No. 2 Republican, John Cornyn of Texas, responded.
