CVS apologizes to transgender woman for prescription denial

CVS Health is apologizing to a transgender woman who says she was denied a hormone prescription by a pharmacist at the drugstore chain.

She talked to 12 News about the incident making headlines-a transgender woman describing how a pharmacists at this CVS in Fountain Hills refused to fill her prescription for hormones. "I left the store feeling mortified". "I was finally going to start seeing my body reflect my gender identity and the woman I've always known myself to be".

"He did not give me a clear reason for the refusal", Hall said.

Although Hall acknowledged that CVS had received a ideal score from the Human Rights Campaign for its policies related to LGBTQ equality ― a fact also touted in the company's statement ― she said "measures should be in place to ensure no other customer is humiliated like I was".

She said the pharmacist also refused to give back her prescription note, meaning she couldn't get it filled at another pharmacy.

After departing the store, Hall called the CVS customer service line twice to no avail, she said. Hall eventually filed a complaint with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy on Thursday.

Ashes series from Aug 1 to Sep 16
India will be going into the Test series with 2 wicket-keepers as selectors have included Pant alongside Dinesh Karthik. Over the last month or so, I played cricket, so, there is some cricket under my belt.

The employee's conduct "does not reflect our values or our commitment to inclusion, nondiscrimination and the delivery of outstanding patient care", CVS said.

It was the second recent controversial incident to take place in a Phoenix-area pharmacy.

After Hill's doctor called the CVS to explain the prescription, the pharmacist still refused, Hill said.

All CVS pharmacy staff are made aware of the policies through internal communications and training, according to DeAngelis. She said she felt like the CVS pharmacist was "trying to out me as transgender in front of strangers". The woman's doctor had told her the pregnancy was unviable, and another Walgreens filled her prescription.

"She's obviously not the first person this has happened to, so the more people we can make aware of the problem, the better", he said. Instead, he loudly questioned why she needed the medication and berated her in front of other customers.

Steve Kilar, a spokesman for the civil liberties union in Arizona, said Hall had filed a complaint with the organization in May after she was having trouble getting a response from CVS.

Trump 'Very Happy' with North Korea Nuclear Weapons Talks
A report published last night by the American monitoring group 38 North said the dismantling of the testing stage marked... Trump rejected "Fake News" that he was angry because progress was not happening fast enough with North Korea.

"Embarrassed and distressed, I almost started crying in the middle of the store", she said in the statement.

Hall declined to take legal action against CVS after she received an apology.

Kam Gandhi, executive director at the board, said that the agency hasn't talked to Arteaga or the pharmacist yet, but will aim to do a full investigation before the board's next meeting in August, Gandhi said.

Walgreens policy requires pharmacists who morally object to filling a prescription to refer it to another pharmacist or manager "in a timely manner", which Arteaga's pharmacist did not do. The situation embarrassed her and cost the pharmacist his job.

DeAngelis said the pharmacist was no longer employed at CVS, but he would not clarify whether the pharmacist was sacked after the company learned about Hall's encounter.
