US senators, on Moscow trip, invite Russian lawmakers to Washington

Paul said he met with Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Russia Federation Council on Foreign Affairs, in Moscow and discussed a visit.

The chairman of the Russian global relations committee, Konstantin Kosachev, thanked Paul and said he hoped the meetings could happen before the end of the year. Today, I met with Chairman Kosachev, and we agreed on the importance of continued dialogue.

"I think this is incredibly important, " Paul said after the high-profile sit-down.

Paul is in Moscow meeting with Russian lawmakers in a trip he sees as a continuation of US President Donald Trump's diplomatic outreach to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and comes several weeks after Trump invited Putin to DC as well. Paul added that lawmakers from the two countries could also meet in a neutral third nation.
