U.S. Senator Paul delivers letter from Trump to Putin's government

Paul says he was honored to deliver the letter from President Trump.

Paul's Moscow trip, Trump said the junior senator from Kentucky "would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to discuss several topics".

Paul received the letter before leaving Washington and then hand-delivered it to the Russian government, the source said.

Jeremy Montanez said he was bothered by Trump being "a suck-up to Vladimir Putin, because obviously that country has something on him".

Russian PM opposes North Atlantic Treaty Organisation membership for Georgia 10 years after war
Earlier on Tuesday, the Georgian foreign ministry denounced Russia's continued military build-up in the separatist regions. The ministers, in a news conference, called Russia's invasion on the Georgian soils "unacceptable".

The three Trump supporters said they were comfortable with the widely panned display from the US president, and proceeded to clash with the dissenters.

The details were leaked in a document entitled "Dialogue on the Issue of Arms Control", with Russian officials saying that Putin shared the contents with President Trump.

But the White House didn't offer an explanation on why such a high-level communication between the two leaders was revealed through a senator's office and not the West Wing's press office, which is typically standard protocol.

The president has called special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible ties between his campaign and Moscow a "witch hunt".

Pope declares death penalty 'inadmissible' in all cases
The pope's decision will be reflected in the Universal Catechism - which, until now, allowed capital punishment in extreme cases. The Vatican catechism also cited "a new understanding has emerged of the significance of penal sanctions imposed by the state".

Trump sparked outrage by largely accepting Putin's word over that of his intelligence agencies at the Helsinki news conference.

Republican Senator Marco Rubio wants a vote on a bill called DETER that would impose new sanctions if USA intelligence officials determine Russian Federation meddled in US elections. Trump's top intelligence official, Dan Coates, has said he is still in the dark about what Trump discussed with Putin in their tête-à-tête in Finland. "He is interested in legislative exchanges, parliamentary dialogue and cultural and educational exchange programs, increased counter-terrorism cooperation, building on recent successes like the disruption of the St. Petersburg plot and resolution of the military conflicts in Syria and Ukraine".

Paul's colleagues in the Senate from both parties introduced legislation last week to impose strict new sanctions on Russian Federation.

The Kentucky Republican met with members of the Russian parliament's upper house who serve on the foreign affairs committee Monday. Under pressure from Congress, which past year passed a tough sanctions law targeting Russia, the U.S. Treasury in April imposed sanctions on Russian officials and oligarchs for election meddling and "malign" activities.
