James Bond boss reportedly eyeing Idris Elba to play 007

After two years of speculation, Daniel Craig announced last August that he will return to play James Bond for a fifth time. "Idris has that." Fuqua is known for his legendary work on Training Day, The Equalizer, The Magnificent Seven, and Southpaw. Fuqua said he made Broccoli aware that it's time for a new direction in the franchise, one in which an actor of color plays the coveted lead role. Actor Pierce Brosnan told the Radio Times back in 2015 he thought Elba would make a good Bond.

THR also reached out to Elba's rep, who did not answer, although "a knowledgeable source" for the publication revealed that no one in the actor's group of confidants knows anything about a Bond consideration (or offer) simmering away at Eon Productions, the Hollywood home of Agent Bond.
